1. City Tier

Assumption: Base non-rent essentials for a single adult in regional Poland are set at 2,900 PLN per month (utilities, food, transport, basics). Living in the Big 5 adds +550 PLN to reflect higher prices for food, transport, and services.

2. Housing Type

Assumption: All rents assume a modern, decent standard (not student bunk beds). Shared room = private room in a quality shared flat. Studio/1-bed = your own place. City center carries a premium (~600 PLN) over outside-center locations.

3. Savings Goal

Assumption: Property deposit saving targets are based on a 7-year plan to reach a ~20% deposit on a typical flat. In the Big 5 this requires ~1,700 PLN/month, elsewhere ~1,200 PLN/month. Light savings options are for people who are not focusing on property but still want a buffer.

4. Living Situation

Assumption: Only rent is split. All other living costs (food, transport, savings, etc.) are calculated per person. If you select “Living with Partner / Friend” the rent cost is divided by 2 for your share.

5. Children / Dependants

Assumption: Each child adds extra costs (food, clothes, activities, etc.) but you also receive 800 PLN per month child benefit after TRC and can benefit from family tax relief. For simplicity, this calculator assumes a net additional cost of +400 PLN per child per month after all support. This keeps the model conservative but realistic.

6. Optional Paid Benefits

Assumption: Tick these if you will pay for them yourself. If your employer includes Luxmed, Multisport, or similar packages, you can leave them unticked because they don’t need to be covered by your net salary.
