If you’re an English teacher in Poland (or elsewhere in Europe) and summer always creates an income gap, this is a clean solution.
You’ll work as a City Counsellor. You’re not teaching classes. You’re leading activities, running campus events, and chaperoning city excursions for international students, while building real leadership experience you can put on your CV.
How it works: you apply once through English Wizards, we shortlist candidates who actually fit, then our camp partner invites shortlisted applicants to an interview. Payment is only requested after you’re accepted.
USA is the primary track. If you hold an eligible passport, limited Canada placements (Toronto or Vancouver) may also be considered as a preference.
You’re getting three wins at once:
1) Income: a paid role with a fixed salary.
2) Experience: real leadership responsibility in a high-tempo environment.
3) Life: major US cities, university campus living, and travel time after camp.
This is built for teachers in Poland and Europe who want a summer plan that feels like progress, not just “survival mode”.
Apply first. If you’re shortlisted and accepted after interview, you’ll be invited to pay the program fee. We display $550 here for clarity. Payment is only requested after acceptance and is collected during onboarding.
No guessing. Here’s exactly what’s included during camp, what the City Counsellor role involves, and what you leave with.
If you’re based in Europe, you already know summer can be a weird financial gap. This program gives you a defined start, defined end, and a payout that makes the trip worth it.
If you’re on a residence permit, apply anyway. During screening we’ll flag the practical points that matter most (timing, travel, and documentation), so you’re not guessing.
If you’re a strong fit, you’ll be invited to interview directly by our camp partner. If you’re not a fit, we’ll tell you quickly so you don’t waste time.
We review your application and shortlist candidates who match the role and eligibility. Shortlisted applicants receive an interview invite by email.
You don’t pay at application stage. Payment is requested only after interview and acceptance.
You can tell us your preference for New York City, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Preferences are considered, not promised, because placements depend on availability and fit.
If you’re eligible, you can also request Canada (Toronto or Vancouver). Availability is limited and not guaranteed.
No. This is a City Counsellor role: activities, excursions, and student support. You’re leading, not teaching lessons.
If you’re shortlisted, our US camp operator will email you directly with an interview invite and the next steps. Full operator and payment details are provided at that stage.
The placements run in summer. Recruiting and interviews can happen year-round, with the main hiring window typically running from autumn into early spring.

Most candidates are 18–26, but strong applicants up to 30 are considered case-by-case.
You lead activities on campus and chaperone city excursions. You’re responsible for energy, organisation, and student experience. You are not teaching lessons.

Housing, meals, and medical insurance are included during the program. Airport transfer is included.
The program fee shown on our site is $550. Payment is only requested after interview + acceptance, and it’s settled in GBP (£400) directly with our camp partner. You’ll also cover flights, the embassy visa fee, and a police background check.
English Wizards displays USD pricing site-wide for consistency. The actual payment is taken in GBP (£400) after acceptance. Exchange rates can vary.
Not necessarily. TEFL helps, but for the City Counsellor role, childcare or youth-work experience and confidence leading groups matter most.
We share full partner and placement details with shortlisted applicants as part of the interview process.
You’ll be paid directly into a US (or Canadian) bank account you set up for the program. This is done with and for you as part of the program.
You can request Canada (Toronto or Vancouver) if you’re eligible. Availability is limited and not guaranteed. USA remains the primary track.
Often yes, but it depends on your specific permit conditions and travel limits. Apply, and we’ll flag the practical considerations during screening.
Apply as early as you can. The strongest candidates tend to be placed first, and availability tightens as the season progresses.
Most people budget $1,250–$1,500 total before departure, including the program fee, embassy visa fee, flights, and a police background check. Flights are the biggest variable, so your total depends heavily on when and where you fly from.
After the program ends, you typically have time available to travel before you depart. The exact window depends on visa rules and your travel dates.
