Summer Camp Counselor USA: NYC, LA & San Francisco

A paid 6-week summer program on university campuses.
Earn $2,250, live on-site with housing + meals included, and finish with up to 30 days to travel before you fly home.

If you’re an English teacher in Poland (or elsewhere in Europe) and summer always creates an income gap, this is a clean solution.

You’ll work as a City Counsellor. You’re not teaching classes. You’re leading activities, running campus events, and chaperoning city excursions for international students, while building real leadership experience you can put on your CV.

How it works: you apply once through English Wizards, we shortlist candidates who actually fit, then our camp partner invites shortlisted applicants to an interview. Payment is only requested after you’re accepted.

USA is the primary track. If you hold an eligible passport, limited Canada placements (Toronto or Vancouver) may also be considered as a preference.

Your best summer on paper

You’re getting three wins at once:

1) Income: a paid role with a fixed salary.
2) Experience: real leadership responsibility in a high-tempo environment.
3) Life: major US cities, university campus living, and travel time after camp.

This is built for teachers in Poland and Europe who want a summer plan that feels like progress, not just “survival mode”.

Who we’re prioritising
We’re primarily looking for applicants based in Europe (especially teachers currently in Poland), plus strong candidates from the US, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Outside of that, applications are considered case-by-case.
Built for teachers in Europe

If you’re based in Europe, you already know summer can be a weird financial gap. This program gives you a defined start, defined end, and a payout that makes the trip worth it.

If you’re on a residence permit, apply anyway. During screening we’ll flag the practical points that matter most (timing, travel, and documentation), so you’re not guessing.

Apply once. We do the filtering.

If you’re a strong fit, you’ll be invited to interview directly by our camp partner. If you’re not a fit, we’ll tell you quickly so you don’t waste time.

We review your application and shortlist candidates who match the role and eligibility. Shortlisted applicants receive an interview invite by email.

You don’t pay at application stage. Payment is requested only after interview and acceptance.

You can tell us your preference for New York City, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Preferences are considered, not promised, because placements depend on availability and fit.

If you’re eligible, you can also request Canada (Toronto or Vancouver). Availability is limited and not guaranteed.

No. This is a City Counsellor role: activities, excursions, and student support. You’re leading, not teaching lessons.

If you’re shortlisted, our US camp operator will email you directly with an interview invite and the next steps. Full operator and payment details are provided at that stage.

You’ll be paid directly into a US (or Canadian) bank account you set up for the program. This is done with and for you as part of the program.

Apply as early as you can. The strongest candidates tend to be placed first, and availability tightens as the season progresses.

Most people budget $1,250–$1,500 total before departure, including the program fee, embassy visa fee, flights, and a police background check. Flights are the biggest variable, so your total depends heavily on when and where you fly from.

After the program ends, you typically have time available to travel before you depart. The exact window depends on visa rules and your travel dates.
